On July 19, 2021, HUD published Notice CPD-21-08: Waivers and Alternative Requirements for the Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) Program Under the CARES Act. This Notice provides important updates and changes to Notice CPD-20-08, published on September 1, 2020.

ESG-CV funds must be used to:

• Prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19 among individuals and families who are homeless or receiving homeless assistance
• Support additional homeless assistance and homelessness prevention activities to mitigate the impacts created by COVID-19

HUD’s Office of Special Needs Assistance Programs (SNAPS) invites homeless assistance providers and their partners to participate in a webinar on Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 1:00 – 2:30 PM EDT. During this webinar, participants will hear HUD experts discuss the updated ESG-CV Notice CPD-21-08. Participants do not need to register in advance. An updated version of the HMIS Client Consent Form (both in English and Spanish) has been added to the list of Privacy Forms. This version includes a list of all agencies with access to HMIS.

Every year, HUD submits an Annual Homeless Assessment Report (AHAR) to the US Congress. The AHAR is a national-level report that provides information about homeless service providers, people and households experiencing homelessness, and various characteristics of that population. It informs strategic planning for federal, state, and local initiatives designed to prevent and end homelessness. The LSA report is produced from each CoC’s Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), and is compiled to create the AHAR report to Congress.

Bitfocus will be migrating the Clarity Human Services Data Analysis tool (Looker) infrastructure to Amazon Web Services (AWS) on 04/18/21. There will be occasional outages between 8:00AM and 4:00PM PT.

The HMIS Team has received an update from BitFocus about the system lag the users had experienced last week. The developers have created modifications to resolve the issue.
