News HIC/PIT Update
The Homeless Inventory Count (HIC), sheltered Point in Time count (PIT), and unsheltered PIT have all been submitted to HUD!  We thank all of the agencies for their hard work during this process.  Below are some preliminary trends for Orange County when comparing 2013 PIT data to 2015 PIT data (sheltered and unsheltered clients).  Please look for the full PIT report to be released in June.

Google Chrome No Longer Supports HMIS
Google has announced that Google Chrome will no longer support Silverlight, which is a plugin necessary for accessing HMIS. As of September 15, 2015, Silverlight will not work at all with Google Chrome. From the press release:

Chrome 42 released with Push Notifications; Will block Java, Silverlight

The search engine giant released the latest version of its Chrome web browser version 42. The latest version of Chrome will block Java and other NPAPI (Netscape Plugin Application Programming Interface) based extensions. Silverlight is a NPAPI extension.

Adsystech has a temporary work around that can be accessed by clicking here for temporary continued use of Google Chrome. This fix will no longer work after September 2015.

First Quarter Clean Up and Analysis!
By May 20, 2015, new Quarterly Report Cards and Corrections will be generated for data that was entered in HMIS from January, 2014, to March, 31, 2014 (first quarter). All data clean-up for the first quarter needs to be completed by June 10, 2015. On June 17, 2015, a follow-up will be done to ensure the data clean-up was completed.Similar to the previous quarters, a password-protected Excel spreadsheet will be sent to each HMIS Agency Administrator, Backup HMIS Agency Administrator, and Executive Director. The spreadsheet will be separated into separate tabs at the bottom of each spreadsheet for different types of corrections. Corrections are based off of the HMIS Data Quality Checklists (Long and Short version).Please send any feedback or questions you may have to or let us know at the HMIS Users Meeting. Agency Audit Update
Starting in April, the 211OC HMIS team began the annual agency audits to ensure your agency is in compliance with the LA/OC HMIS Policies and Procedures.  To date, we have completed 7 agency audits out of 42 agencies.  Each year, these audits are required for all HMIS Participating Agencies.  Some agency visits have been scheduled for May.  If your agency has not yet scheduled an agency audit with the 211OC HMIS team, please email  Click here to view and download the checklist of the items to be audited.  Please ensure that all intake staff are available during the visit and all computers that access HMIS are available for review.



Program Specific Data Element Entry Reports Fixed
The ProgramSpecificDataElement_Entry_Results and ProgramSpecificDataElement_Entry_Summary reports have been updated to correctly display program entry data!  This is an issue that has been impacting all users for many months, and we appreciate your patience as we work with the vendor to correct this issue.  Now that this issue has been fixed, please work to correct any missing, Client Doesn’t Know, Client Refused, or Data not Collected responses on the reports to improve your project’s data quality.  We want all of you to be on our Quarterly Agency Spotlights!  If you have questions about what you can do to improve your data quality, please email

HMIS Part II Training
Effective June 10, 2015, the HMIS Part II training held in the beginning of the month will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m. This change is being made to accommodate users with the morning commute.
